Cash transfer scheme not yet implemented in Nawanshahr

Sources said that there were some unresolved issues with the banking transaction system and that there was some delay in the recording of Aadhar card numbers into the database. They added that list of Aadhar numbers had been list to the sponsor bank of the scheme, ICICI, and as soon these have been entered into the system, money will be transferred.

Punjab National Bank AK Puri, the lead district manager, said: "We do not have any information on the reasons for non-transfer of money to bank accounts of beneficiaries."

He added: "The DC is in Chandigarh to meet higher officials and resolve the technical and other glitches."

He claimed that there was a problem with the IT system of the ICICI Bank.

State Bank of India district coordinator JS Sharan said that money would be transferred by Friday night.

District education officer Amrik Singh said, "Finance department officials had demanded some information from the education department, which was provided. By Saturday morning, the money will be transferred."

Due to UID cards not being ready for 22,011 beneficiaries that the administration had identified previously, only 4,972 post-matric scholarship students were selected in the first phase of the scheme.

In the second phase, beneficiary students of various schemes, including pre-matric scholarships for SCs, OBCs and women beneficiaries of Janani Suraksha Yojana scheme will be covered.
