Cattle smugglers were aboard J&K number car that evaded naka in Pathankot, one surrenders

High drama was witnessed at the residence of Pathankot SSP Neelambari Vijay Jagdalay on Sunday when a man turned up to surrender before the officer claiming himself to be one of the occupants of the car that had tried to run over cops when asked to stop at a check post on Saturday.

High drama was witnessed at the residence of Pathankot SSP Neelambari Vijay Jagdalay on Sunday when a man turned up to surrender before the officer claiming himself to be one of the occupants of the car that had tried to run over cops when asked to stop at a check post on Saturday. The car bore the J&K registration number and five-six people were sitting in the vehicle. The car was found abandoned and one of the accused was arrested on Saturday.

The accused, Bhagu Khan, turned up at the SSP’s house and told the security staff that he wanted to meet the officer. He was not ready to cite the purpose initially, but revealed when grilled. He was then handed over to the Sujanpur police, where he was being quizzed to identify others travelling with him.

As per reports Bhagu had told the police that they were part of a cattle smuggling gang operating from an area in Bamyal sector on the Punjab and J&K border.

The SSP said the accused have been identified as Mohammad Sadiq, Rumuddin Khan, Bali Mohammadd and Barkat Ali. All of them are Gujjars and hail from different cities of J&K.
