Thousands of students, especially the aspirants for teaching jobs and junior research fellowship in Indian universities and colleges, have slammed the Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) for failing to announce the results of National Eligibility Test (NET), which was conducted on December 28 last year, despite the fact that only 17 days are left for the next exam that is due on June 28.

As per the information, around 50,000 students from Punjab had appeared in the NET exam last December. However, due to delay in the announcement of results, the aspirants for teaching jobs in government and private universities or junior research fellowship are in doldrums, as majority of colleges and universities in the state have started filling the vacancies before the start the next academic session.

Meanwhile, due to uncertainty over the results, students who have filled the forms for June 2015 Net examination again, are still to get their admission card and are unaware of their examination centre.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) had handed over the task of conducting the NET exam to CBSE last year.

Vinod Kumar, who had appeared in the December NET exam, informed that he had to appear in the interview for job of assistant professor at a private university on Tuesday, but the authorities refused his candidature in the absence of NET results. He said due to delay in the results, all his efforts were going in vain.

Meanwhile, as per the notification of the CBSE NET Exam June 2015, the admit card of the students was to be uploaded on their website in the first week of June; however, the Board has failed to do the same till Thursday evening. The CBSE has considered two cities -- Patiala and Amritsar -- in Punjab as venues to conduct the exams. However, this also remains uncertain, as the officials at Punjabi University, Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar were unaware about the upcoming examination being conducted by the CBSE.

Despite repeated attempts, the CBSE officials concerned could not be contacted for clarification on the issue.
