The row over the "leak" of a CD purported to contain telephonic conversations of state health minister Kaul Singh Thakur with a woman and others has provided the opposition BJP a convenient stick to beat chief minister Virbhadra Singh with.

Himachal BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti said Thursday allegations made by state health minister Kaul Singh Thakur had "vindicated the BJP's claims that Virbhadra always hatched political conspiracies against his rivals".

"The BJP's stance has been vindicated after the chief minister's cabinet colleague leveled allegations against his own government. Earlier Congress party leaders have been victims of conspiracies hatched by Virbhadra," Satti said in a statement issued Thursday, demanding the chief minister should resign immediately.

"The state has never witnessed political instability like this before. Senior ministers have time and again been demanding that the state government should order an inquiry into the matter. Virbhadra has suggested the minister should keep mum about the episode. It's mandatory for the government to get the entire matter investigated and ascertain the facts. The government should tell people how the Indian Telegraph Act has been violated.

He alleged Himachal BJP headquarters in Simla was attacked by Youth Congress activists led by Virbhadra's son, Vikramaditya, who heads the body "The government has crossed all limits of decency. Many Congress party leaders have acknowledged the government is being run by an individual," he added.
