Centre to finalise new educational policy soon: HRD minister Smriti Irani

Human resource development minister Smriti Irani said the central government was in the process of finalizing a new educational policy of soon. Addressing students at the local National Institute of Technology on Friday, she said there was huge gap between the country's educational system and industry that badly needed “world-class expertise”.

Addressing students at the local National Institute of Technology on Friday, she said there was huge gap between the country's educational system and industry that badly needed “world-class expertise”.

Irani, who is on a visit here in connection with the Umang “techno festival” at the institute, had long chats with the students and sought their views on various issues. “This gap (between the educational system and industry) must be closed,” she said and sought the cooperation and opinion of people on how to frame a new educational policy for the next generation.

Asking students to prepare themselves for a “new India”, she said: “The 'Make in India' campaign is going to change the concept of the nation and I'm hopeful it has reached the minds of the people. The new NDA government at center had been doing a lot for ending the un-employment and trying its best to provide skill development based projects to the youth. Such projects will be launched all over India and will be help young people to stand on their feet.”

Senapati GopalaKrishnan, the chairman of the institute's board of governors, hailed the initiatives taken by the new central government for the youth of country while director Rajnish Srivastva gave details on the activities being undertaken by the institute.
