Chaitra fair kicks off in Hamirpur

Large number of people thronged the historic shrine of the historic shrine of Baba Balak Nath at Deotsidh kaswa here on Saturday to pay obeisance on the first day of the month-long “Chiatra Mela” (fair). The fair was inaugurated by deputy commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur, who is also the commissioner of the temple trust. The trust organises the fair every year.

The devotees gathered in the temple complex located atop the Dhaulagiri ranges of Himalayas. The deputy commissioner offered puja and took part in “yajna” before unfurling the religious flag of the temple. He was accompanied by chairman of temple trust -cum-sub divisional magistrate, Badsar, Akshay Sood.

It's worth mentioning here that more than fifty lakh baba devotees visit the cave every year and pay their obeisance to the Babaji. Meanwhile, due to huge gathering at the temple, roads leading to it were overcrowded and jam-packed.
