Chandigarh coldest in Punjab and Haryana

In Chandigarh , the cold finally came into its own as the temperature on Friday dropped to 13.1 degree Celsius - lowest in the Punjab and Haryana region. Friday was the coldest day of the season yest, with the city colder than Shimla and Dharamshala too.

In Chandigarh , the cold finally came into its own as the temperature on Friday dropped to 13.1 degree Celsius - lowest in the Punjab and Haryana region. Friday was the coldest day of the season yest, with the city colder than Shimla and Dharamshala too.

The maximum temperature of 13.1 degree Celsius was 8 degrees below normal. To put the figures into perspective, the temperature during the day in Shimla was 14.1 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal.

At 18.6 degree Celsius, Dharamshala was warmer than Chandigarh as well.

The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was 9.8 degrees, five degrees above normal.

Surender Paul, director, meteorological department said, “The chill will continue to prevail for the next few days and conditions will improve only after January 17-18. Cloudy and foggy conditions led to dip in the temperature.”

Forecast of the meteorological department’s website reads, “Shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur during morning for the next three-four days.” The maximum temperature will be around 15 degrees with the minimum temperature expected to hover around eight degrees.
