Crushed by BMW, Himachal CM’s relative dies in Chandigarh

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s kin, who owns a restaurant in Sector 9, died on Friday evening after he was critically injured when a BMW car hit him outside his house in the same locality early Thursday morning over a tiff with the luxury car owner and his friends.

A day after a BMW ran over him in posh Sector 9-B on Thursday morning, restaurateur Akansh Sen (28), the kin of Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh, succumbed to head injuries at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Science and Research (PGIMER) on Friday evening.

Sen was the co-owner of Boom Box Cafe in Sector 9 and was crushed under the luxury car after a tiff with the accused, identified as Balraj Singh Randhawa (26), of Sohana in SAS Nagar, and Har Mehtab Singh Gill (27) of Landran (SAS Nagar), the man in the passenger seat of the BMW at the time. Both have been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC at the Sector 3 police station and are still at large.

“Raids have been conducted at all possible hideouts of the accused, including in Punjab. The hunt is on,” said DSP Ram Gopal.

Adamya Singh, the complainant in the case, who is Sen’s cousin and a partner in the cafe, they had started around two months ago, was inconsolable.
