Among the voters who came out to elect their ward representative during the Sunday elections for the municipal corporation House, many were first-timers.

Most youngsters termed their experience “overwhelming”, while some rued the fact that they did not know the candidates personally, making it difficult for them to make the choice.
Shubham Kukshal, a Panjab University student, said: “I know my vote holds a lot of importance. But till the very last moment, I had not been able to make up my mind about whom to vote for.”
Ravinder Kumar, another first-time voter, said: “Voting is all about making the right choice. Getting inked for the first time was definitely a proud feeling.”
Social media was crowded with posts from first-time voters, who updated their profile pictures showing their inked fingers.
Ravi Bajwa, another youngster who voted for the first time, said: “I was already very excited since night. My friends and I planned to wake up by 10am and go together to vote. Fortunately, at our booth, there were no long queues, and we could vote easily.”
