The citizen charter that the municipal corporation (MC) was to implement from April 1, 2016, remains a non-starter due to shortage of staff. The charter fixed the time in which complaints regarding 90 specified civic works were to be resolved.
Officers were to be penalised for not adhering to the stipulated time frame.
“We are short of staff and are not able to redress grievances in a time-bound manner,” an MC official said.
General secretary, MIG-1 Houses, Sector 40 C, SK Khosla said, “They have fixed two days to make streetlights functional. It has been more than six months since we wrote to MC commissioner. Nothing has been done.”
FOSWAC chairman Baljinder Singh Bittu said, “We lodged a complaint to clean the back lane of Sector 21 in January; it was cleaned in the last week of February. The time listed in the charter was 12 days. Why has no officer been penalised?”
City mayor Asha Kumari Jaswal said, “I will hold a meeting and ensure implementation.”
