Dr Parvinderpal Singh Sidhu joined the civil hospital as senior medical officer (SMO) on Saturday. He said that apart from putting up the requirement of doctors, nurses, infrastructure and other staffers before the government, the hospital would encourage the local donors to add to the facilities of the institution.
Dr Sidhu took a round of the hospital in the morning and noted down the shortcomings as well as demands of the staff members. In the mother child hospital, he visited each ward and interacted with the patients.
He also visited the emergency ward, laboratories, outpatient department (OPD) and other sections of the hospital. Dr Sidhu pointed out mistakes and also suggested the ways to remove them.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Dr Sidhu said, "I have just joined the hospital and will work for its betterment. I have asked the staffers to give their demands in writing to me so that the same could be forwarded to the government. The hospital received some mattresses, bed sheets etc from the government and would get the rest of the stuff soon."
Dr Sidhu said that the institution would try to encourage the city donors to contribute more to add to the facilities here. "A register would be maintained to record the contributions from the donors. The donors can get their names engraved on the items they donate like wheel chairs, quilts, benches, beds, etc,"he added.

{{/usCountry}}Officiating medical superintendent Dr Renu said, "We may get more nurses soon as the government recently made fresh recruitments."The seniors would hold a meeting with police officers for the security of the hospital.
Dr Renu said, "For less chaos, we will be starting a pass system for the attendants to be with the patients in the wards. The process will start from maternity ward, and then it will be implemented in all of the wards or departments for proper functioning and security."
