Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday assured his government would conduct an impartial inquiry into the firing incident in which the personnel security officer of state industries minister Mukesh Agnihotri was allegedly involved. “The state government is committed to conduct an impartial probe into the incident reportedly involving industries minister Mukesh Agnihotri’s PSO, Pankaj Sharma. There will be no intelligence of any sorts in the investigations,” he said, replying to the calling attention motion moved by Shimla MLA Suresh Bhardwaj under rule 62.

Bhardwaj said the incident had led to a “law and order situation” at the government owned Hotel Holiday Home in the city. “Virbhadra said the government intended to conduct an independent inquiry so that the truth could be established and action initiated against those involved. After the cops were informed on April 2 evening that gunshots had been fired after a brawl over parking space, a police squad arrived at the scene. The young man who suffered bullet injuries in the incident, Kashish Khanna, was taken to the local Indira Gandhi Medical College. After recording his statement the police filed a criminal case under Sections 307 & 323 of the IPC and under the Arms Act at the Sardar police station,” he added.

Bhardwaj said both Kumar and Sharma had been placed under suspension. “Investigations into the matter are on,” he added.
