In his complaint to the police, Sushil Masih, father of the deceased, said he and his son Mickel were working with the commission agent, Davinder Singh, as contractors-cum-caretakers at the Ghiana Ke Banger grain market.

He further said after the end of the wheat season, when he and Davinder were checking the stocks, they found that 574 bags of wheat, costing `2.25 lakh, were missing for which the commission agent blamed him and his son

Sushil said after Davinder and his companions exerted pressure on them, he and his son agreed to pay `1 lakh to the commission agent on June 18. "Davinder threatened my son with dire consequences if he didn't pay up on the scheduled date", he added.

Following Sushil's complaint, the police have filed a case under section 306 of the IPC against Davinder, who is absconding.
