With large potholes seen everywhere on these roads, commuters are forced to take another route to reach their destination quite often.

Several people who have had their shops located on the two stretches have closed their outlets since there was a significant decline in customer footfall due to a miserable condition of the roads.

Streetlights in the area are not working for many years despite local residents having lodged several complaints in this connection time and again.

Some residents claimed that the road used to be in an excellent condition when Chaudhary Jagjit Singh was the local bodies minister about 10 years back.

But after the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) came to power, no attention was paid to the roads or other civic amenities in the area, they claimed.

Assistant commissioner (building and roads) Ashwani Chaudhary said the carpeting of roads had been started from the house of Chaudhary Jagjit Singh and the whole road will be constructed soon.
