The chief minister reached the venue at about 12 noon and the rally ended at about 2pm.

While addressing the rally, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said that the massive gathering had given indications that the people would cast their votes in favour of the SAD-BJP candidate. He criticized the Congress- led UPA government and held it responsible for inflation, poverty and farmers’ debts.

He said that he had visited almost all constituencies and it appeared that the Congress would be defeated in these polls the way it was defeated in the election held immediately after the emergency way back in 1975.

Badal attacked the Congress saying that this time, the Congress had not declared its prime ministerial candidate indicating that the party wanted to hand over the reins of the country to vice- president of the Indian National Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, who did not have much experience in politics.
