Sources said Congress leaders have conveyed to the striking leader that the party was with him and his action was justified.

Demanding the release of Sikh prisoners who have completed their terms but continue to languish in jails, the Sikh leader is on hunger strike at a Gurdwara in Ambala since November 14.

The Congress leaders have demanded that Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal should intervene and visit the Sikh leader who is on hunger strike for the past 55 days and persuade him to end his fast.

Later, talking to mediapersons Khaira said Badal and Akali leaders have been playing politics over the issue and were not serious in resolving the crises.

He claimed that recently the SGPC has released the list of 96 prisoners lodged in various jails of Punjab despite completion of their sentences.
