To let the people of the state know about the policies of the central government that have helped Punjab, the Congress would soon ask its workers to go door to door and let the people know about various schemes for their welfare. The exercise would be started in the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next year.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) vice-president (Malwa incharge) Charanjit Singh Channi who was in Ludhiana to take stock of the preparations for the workers' meeting on April 6 at Ludhiana in which PPCC president Pratap Singh Bajwa and minister for information and broadcasting Manish Tewari among other senior leaders would blow the bugle for Lok Sabha elections in Ludhiana.
“As the SAD-BJP government has hijacked all the cable networks in the state and suppressed the voice of news channels, the welfare schemes that are provided by the central government for the residents of the state are not being highlighted,” said Channi.
He said that the state government hijacked all the schemes and highlighted them as if these were started by SAD-BJP. “Our workers will go door to door to let the people know about various centrally sponsored schemes that are provided by the UPA government,” said Channi.
The Congress workers, whose morale was down after the defeat of the party in the assembly elections last year, are hoping that the new PPCC president would bring positive results for the party in the upcoming elections. Even Manish Tewari, who is the MP from Ludhiana, is leaving no stone unturned and making rounds of the city to ensure his victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

{{/usCountry}}It has been learnt that all the ward presidents as well as other leaders of the party have been asked to bring only "dedicated" party workers to the meet on April 6 as the aim of the meet was to rejuvenate the party workers and not to gather crowd.
Various issues, including roads, water and electricity, would be highlighted and workers would be told to carry the message at rural and urban level to get maximum mobilisation of votes during the elections.
