Punjab additional director general police (law and order) Satish Kumar Sharma visited the spot late Monday evening to coordinate and supervise the investigation and left the village after midnight.

The senior Akali leader was killed on Monday.

The ADGP said that six accused, including three nephews of Keetu, escaped in a car after committing the crime. They left another vehicle with Haryana registration number on the spot which was impounded by the police.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Keetu had some disputes with his nephews over a piece of land near his house at Billaspur where he was keeping dry fodder stock and the nephews wanted the land to be vacated with an immediate effect.

SSP Grewal said police continued raids to nab the accused throughout the night in the areas of Barnala and Mansa districts and hoped to arrest all of them shortly.

When questioned about the security guards of Keetu, the SSP said that Keetu, before going to bathroom, had sent them for breakfast when the incident took place.
