Among the tenders called for Rs 40lakh works per ward, the MC has failed to pursue contractors to bid for tenders of his ward, Vipan alleged.

"Most of the works relating to my ward relate to repair and maintenance and no contractor has shown interest for doing these works. As per my information, there are four other wards in the same situation," said Vipan, adding, "My position before the ward people is becoming awkward due to this."

Vipan also rued the lack of a tubewell in the area in spite of the fact that work was allotted to a contractor two years ago.

"The functioning of the MC has always remained questionable. In June 2011, the MC allotted the work to a contractor for setting up a tubewell in local senior secondary school in the area," Vipan added.
