Counselling for diploma in stock exchange on Aug 20

As many as 35 applicants have applied for 50 seats of University Grants Commission (UGC) Community College's diploma in stock market and trading operations at SCD Government College.

The counselling for the same will be at the college premises on August 20.

Earlier, the last date to apply for this programme was August 20, but now the Panjab University has extended it to August 31.

Talking to the Hindustan Times, college principal Dharam Singh Sandhu said, "As many as 35 students have applied for this programme, and with the extension of the date, we are expecting the seats to be filled by August 31. We have also set up a special counter in the computer centre for depositing of the forms. The aim of this course is to create stock market professionals by giving modern job-oriented practical training."

The duration of the programme is one year (two semesters of 6 months each) and the course content covers computer fundamentals and stock market trading, basics of stock and financial markets, stock market operations, economics for stock and financial market, analysis of financial statements, risk management and surveillance system in stock exchanges, financial instruments, security analysis and portfolio management. The course will be having 60 credits with 900 teaching hours in one year. The UGC will also be offering scholarships to all the students for completing this programme.
