Acting on a tip off, a police party raided a building in Latif Pura area late on Sunday night and arrested two people when they were betting on a live match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, ACP Sarabjit Singh told HT.

The accused have been identified as Surinder Kumar, a resident of Raja Garden, and Lakhbir Singh, resident of Basti Nau, he added.

The ACP said that during preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the gang had been placing bets on matches, since the start of the season. He added that the accused had stron links with bookies in New Delhi and Mumbai.

He did not rule out the possibility that the accused nabbed here could have links with the bookies arrested in Delhi, in connection with the spot-fixing case.

A similar racket was busted on May 7, after five bookies were arrested from Basti Bawa Khel area.
