Another farmer reportedly committed suicide by jumping into a well in Paju village of Loharu sub-division of Bhiwani district on Thursday evening, police said on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Surender Singh (52).

Talking to Hindustan Times, Behal police station incharge Umashankar said, "According to the family members, Surender committed suicide by jumping into the well as he was upset over the meager amount of compensation for the last year's crop damage".

After the post mortem, the deceased's body has been handed over to his family and the police have registered a case under section 174 of CrPC.

His family members said Surender was upset as the compensation paid to him for the last year's crop damage was not commensurate with the loss suffered by him. The recent rain had also affected his crop spread over five acres, they added.

The family accused the government of paying less compensation for the last year's loss, saying that the amount was not even equal to the cost of production.
