To create scarcity of building material the crusher owners on Saturday blocked trucks filled with sand and gravel at the Punjab-Himachal Pradesh border coming from the Himachal side.

The owners have been on strike for a week and have tried all means to draw the attention of the government but have failed to do so. The crusher owners of Jammu and Kashmir have asked them to first manage the material coming from Himachal following which the Jammu and Kashmir crusher owners would also go on strike.

"We have suspended the supplies from Himachal and now are sure that the J&K crusher owners would also join us," claimed Vijay Passi, who is leading the strike. "The scarcity will certainly awaken the governments," he said, adding that though leaders had shown sympathy with them, nobody had done anything substantial as scores of workers were facing a hard time due to financial crunch. They were firm on the decision to continue with their strike, he concluded.
