A phone call from Harsh Bansal, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), - who saw the body of a young man laying on the elevated road late on Sunday night - landed the suspected bus driver, who allegedly crushed the youth and left other two injured, into police net.
Suraj Kumar, alias, Kaka (19) from Azad Nagar of Salem Tabri area was on his way back to home from after attending a meeting of networking marketing company along with his two friends - Ajay and Ajay Johar of same locality - on a motorcycle when a bus of Himachal Road Transport Corporation rammed into the motorcycle from the rear at the elevated road and fled the scene.
Suraj, a labourer with a hosiery factory, died on the spot while his friends suffered injuries.
In the meantime, the DCP, who was crossing the elevated road, saw the body and sounded inspector Dharampal, SHO at the Salem Tabri police station, who immediately alerted the Ladhowal and Phagwara police to round up the bus.
Finally, the bus was intercepted by Phagwara police, who handed over the suspected bus driver, Rakesh Kumar of Himachal Pradesh, to the Salem Tabri police.
Later, the Salem Tabri police impounded the bus and registered a case of causing death due to negligence and reckless driving against the driver.
The driver kept on refuting the allegations; however, when police questioned the passengers and the reality was unfolded, the driver, too, purportedly confessed to have committed the crime.

Suraj was the youngest of the three siblings. He wanted to join to networking marketing company to earn money.
