With the Pakistan government imposing restriction on Indian buses to cross over the Wagah border in the wake of terror threats, a Delhi-Lahore bus that had left for Pakistan on Wednesday returned here on Thursday amid tight security and frisking of the passengers.
As soon as the bus entered into the Indian Territory at the Attari border, it was closely guarded by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
The bus was checked thorough and the luggage of all the 14 passengers was closely scanned. All passengers were frisked by the customs and BSF officials, who were on high alert.
Meanwhile, the Indian agencies have heightened the security of the bus services plying up to the Wagah border.
To prevent regular Indian buses from being exposed to terror outfits, the Pakistan government had decided to allow the movement of Indian buses up to Wagah only — just across the International Border.
Thereon, the passengers will have to board vehicles arranged by the Pakistani authorities to their respective destinations.
Passengers talk of inconvenience
Most of the passengers who returned from Pakistan on Thursday claimed that the decision to restrict the buses was causing big inconvenience to the commuters.
A Pakistani citizen, Rashid, who was among the 14 passengers arrived here on Thursday, said, “It’s very disappointing and inconvenient too. Earlier, the service was direct, but now, it full of hassles.”
