Hundreds of Dera Sacha Sauda followers blocked the national highways 95 and 71 and squatted on the Ferozepur-Ludhiana railway track during heavy rain near the Bughipura square for the second consecutive day on Sunday.

Several trains, including the Moga-Delhi Shatabdi Express and Ferozepur-Chandigarh Express, were delayed due to the protest.

The protesters also raised slogans in favour of dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. Addressing the gathering, member of state-level committee Mohinder Pal Singh Bittu said theatre and multiplexes were not screening the dera chief-starrer MSG-2 under pressure from the Punjab government.
"The government has been trying to play with the sentiments of the dera followers, but now we have decided that our indefinite agitation will continue across the Malwa region till MSG-2 is screened in theatres across Punjab," said Bittu.

The district administration had barricaded all main entry points to the city and beefed up security near the protest. Talks with the dera committee to end the stalemate also failed.

Moga deputy commissioner Parminder Singh Gill said the administration had arranged a meeting with members of the dera committee and tried to end the stalemate. "There is no ban on the movie. Owners of multiplexes are free to screen the movie in the district. I hope the matter is resolved soon," the DC added.
