Dera spokesperson Pawan Insan stated that the remarks of the INLD leader were “unfortunate and baseless”. “The dera followers are like a family, and in the elections, decided unanimously to vote for a party that promised social welfare. No one has the right to bully us over that,” he added.

He told Abhay Chautala that “to win the people’s hearts, the INLD should join the campaign against drug trade, female foeticide, corruption, alcohol abuse and other social evils”.

“If the INLD leader is thinks that by disparaging the saints, he would achieve anything, it was his deep misconception, because the only goal of the dera is to serve the humanity,” said the spokesman.

Addressing party workers at Sonepat on Friday, Abhay Chautala had targeted Ram Rahim, saying: “INLD ka rasta rokne wala baba bachega nahi. Ek Baba jail mein ja chukka hai, doosra bhi jayega (The baba that blocked the INLD path to power won’t escape. One baba (Rampal) has gone behind bars, and the other (Ram Rahim) will too).”

Since the statement, the dera followers are upset.
