Those who were actually with me never left me. It's only the seasoned and professional politicians who changed their ways and their desertion would prove a blessing for the People's Party of Punjab(PPP).

PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal said this while talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of his routine meeting with party workers here on Wednesday.

"The party was launched with an ideology and we have tried to stick to that and hopefully, we would succeed in touching the consciousness of people in the coming days," he said, adding, "My party is that of people and not leaders. Those who join us and later shift loyalties are professional politicians only."

Earlier, he addressed the gathering of party workers at Shalimar Bagh and asked motivated them. "In the coming years, people of the state would understand the dirty gimmicks being played by the present government. Common man is the big loser. Public exchequer is being misused and corruption is at its peak," he said.

PPP district president Kuldeep Singh Cheema and party leader Gurmeet Singh Nadala were among the prominent persons present on this occasion. Party candidate from Kapurthala assembly constituency Raghubir Singh kept himself away from the meeting as the news of his rejoining the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has become the talk of the town.
