The police had arrested the alleged accused on July 6 even before it was confirmed that the victim was actually raped. Interestingly, the medical report of the victim does not confirm rape.

The accused, 13, is an orphan and has been sent to a juvenile home on the charge of rape. He has no one to pursue his case or bail him out.

When contacted, Dr Malwinder Mala at the civil hospital, Ludhiana, said that during the medical examination of the victim, she didn’t find any sign of sexual assault. “There were no injury marks on the victim’s body. We have sent the vaginal swabs to laboratory for investigation,” she said.

On the other hand, ACP, Ludhiana west, RPS Sandhu, clarified that the police didn’t overreact as medical report did show injury marks on victim’s body. He further added that the girl was actually assaulted, but to what extent was a matter of probe.

The mother of the victim had lodged an FIR on July 6 with the Sarabha Nagar police alleging that classmate of her daughter had raped her in the toilet of the school.
