Clarifying for the first time ever since he quit the Congress, former cabinet minister and Ambala MLA Venod Sharma on Sunday said that he had not strained his relations with chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on personal and family front by quitting from the party. Sharma, who had resigned from the party in March this year, said this in a press conference at a private hotel after inauguration of newly launched outfit’s office - Loksewa Panchayat in Rohtak, Meham and Kalanaur.
Responding to a query of the mediapersons, Sharma admitted that he was set to join the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) after he was promised to be fielded from Karnal seat, which was later cancelled after resentment expressed by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. He also admitted that he had praised BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during that time with a hope to gain entry in the party.
On being asked whether he was thinking of joining former home minister Gopal Kanda’s political outfit Haryana Lokhit Party, Sharma said he did not find the question fit to be answered. He said that it was a fight of existence and ideology.
Elaborating on his relations with Hooda, he said if the two players pitted against each other in a game, it did not mean that they had strained relations with each other. Equating politics with a sports game, he said the scenario was very much true in politics also, where each one fought for ideology and existence.

{{/usCountry}}Indirectly alleging favouritism in jobs by politicians using their influence, he said the system needed to be changed and if that was not done, then his outfit would launch a state wide protest against it. When asked, why he did not raise the point when he was in the power of Hooda-led government in the last nine years, he said the situation was not so controllable then as it had become now which also resulted in winning nine seats for the Congress.
