When it comes to enjoying the most thrilling ride, especially in Punjab, the Royal Enfield Bullet grabs the crown hands down. Its popularity among motorcycling aficionados has remained unchallenged despite various new models being launched in the market every year.
To find out the extent to which Punjabi youngsters are enamoured with this mean machine, HT went around the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) campus where it ran into some of the most diehard Bullet riders. “I was so obsessed with the thought of owning a Royal Enfield motorcycle that I had told my parents if I secured over 80% marks in the Class10 exams, they should gift me a Bullet. Fortunately, my score was far higher and I got my dream machine that I had been dying for,” shared Pawanpreet Grewal, who drew inspiration from his father who also loves the vehicle.
In the case of Gurinderpal Singh, who started learning to ride a motorcycle when he was just 15, many minor injuries and even a major accident didn’t daunt his spirits.
“As I was about to finish school, owning a Bullet had become a cherished goal. After all, it’s so unique with a classic design and instantly draws attraction, especially those of girls,” brags the proud bike owner. He narrates, “The Bullet gives a far less average than any other regular bike and is expensive to own but still everyone wants to buy it. It is cared for like a baby. Cleaning and washing it with our own hands has become a morning ritual - this may take even an hour.”

{{/usCountry}}Kanwarpreet Singh Brar throws some light on the latest Bullet trends. “Despite the arrival of many new Bullet variants in different colours, the standard black model remains the hot favourite. It’s common for most of us to remove the front mirrors and have smaller licence number plates with unique combinations,” says Brar.
Punjabi gabroos (youths) passionately talked about how most goras (westerners) visiting India hired Bullet motorbikes for their expeditions. And their influence on the glamour industry. “Many Punjabi lyricists have penned down songs and most Bollywood actors are seen riding on a Bullet in their movies,” one of them added.
