The accused has been identified as 52-year-old Baldev Nagar resident Karnail Singh, who took to property dealing after being sacked as constable.

Three of the accomplices of the accused, including a woman, are absconding and the police have launched a manhunt to arrest them. They are Neelam Rani, Suresh Kumar of Hargobind Nagar and Raj Kumar of Mayapuri.

The accused along with his accomplices was booked by the Basti Jodhewal police on March 17 for forgery following the complaint of Jasvir Kaur of Mayapuri.

In her complaint, Jasvir alleged that she had purchased a plot from the accused for `30 lakh. She had made all the payment against the property, but the accused had not transferred the ownership of the plot in her name.

Inspector Harwinder Singh, SHO at the Basti Jodhewal police station, said the case was registered following an inquiry and the police arrested the accused late on Friday.
