Docs underline importance of mental health in children

Students of mental health (psychiatric) nursing at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) organised a mental health camp on the topic “Promotion of Mental Health” by putting up a poster exhibition at Govemment Primary School at Jamalpur here on Wednesday.

Students of mental health (psychiatric) nursing at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) organised a mental health camp on the topic “Promotion of Mental Health” by putting up a poster exhibition at Govemment Primary School at Jamalpur here on Wednesday.

The programme kicked off with welcoming of gathering followed by a prayer. Dr Tiza Jiwan, professor at CMCH, welcomed chief guest Sunita Aggarwal, senior deputy mayor, Ludhiana, and guest of honor Dr RS Deswal, head of psychiatry department at CMCH. All the dignitaries emphasised on the importance of mental health, especially of school children and early detection and treatment in case of mental illnesses.

The poster exhibition was inaugurated by the chief guest followed by an educative play by students. Psychiatric cases such as depression, mental retardation, bipolar disorder, conversion disorder and paranoid behaviour were identified at the camp.
