A driver with a dyeing firm stole Rs 6.1 lakh and the i20 car that the company had provided him outside Calibre Plaza, Bhadaur House, on Wednesday. The manager of the unit has registered a case against the driver in this context.
In his complaint, Sanjay Jain, manager at Mahavir dyeing and finishing industry, stated that he had gone to Calibre Plaza for some work. He asked the driver, Vinod Kumar, to stay in the car and take care of the bag containing cash. When he returned after some time, he was shocked to see that the car was not there.
When he investigated, he found that the drive had fled with the car which contained a bag having Rs 6.1 lakh.
Later, the police recovered the car from the house of driver, but he was not present there.
The Division Number 1 police registered a case against Vinod, a resident of Ganesh Nagar, Janakpuri area, under section 382 (theft) of the IPC.
Inspector Surinder Mohan said the police have launched a manhunt to arrest the driver.
