The drug authorities alleged that after sealing the godowns, the police were indifferent to their officials when they were asked to guard the godowns.

Gurbinder Singh, zonal licensing authority, said a team led by him, including drug inspectors Kamal Kamboj and Sandeep Kaushik, reached Wadhwa Agency in Gopal Nagar after receiving information that medicines which could be misused were stored there.

Singh said the team reached the godowns at 12 am and called up the agency owner, Rakesh Kumar, and a police party. When asked to open the locks of the godowns, Kumar said the keys were at his home. However, when sent to bring the keys, Kumar never returned. It was then decided to seal both the godowns as the of ficials could not enter in the owner’s absence. Two policemen were deputed outside to ensure no one enters inside.

Police commissioner Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh said if the drug authorities had kept them in the loop, sufficient staff and senior police of ficials would have been deputed.
