DTO to accept medical certificates only from suvidha centre doctors

Through verbal orders, the DTO has directed to only accept the medical fitness certificates issued by the three doctors that were recently placed at suvidha centre by the department.

But, DTO’s orders have harried the applicants a lot, as they are being forced to wait for hours to get their medical examinations done, as the number of doctors is not enough to deal with huge number of applicants.

Moreover, the applicants visiting suvidha centres after completing all formalities, from city periphery are being denied medical certificates. They have been forced to stand in long queues to get their medical certificates made again.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Vigilance Bureau had struck district transport office and had arrested three agents on September 17. The bureau had booked eight accused, including DTO Anil Garg’s stenographer, a clerk and agents after an inquiry.

The bureau has also come to know about the three doctors that used to issue medical certificates to applicants without checkup in exchange of money.

The matter was discovered by chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal during a surprise check at the suvidha centre of the district administration on June 20.

During the check, the agents fled the spot leaving behind 62 licence forms they were carrying to get approval from transport office officials. The chief secretary had then grilled the DTO and ordered a vigilance inquiry.
