Elderly woman dies in road mishap

Hit by a car, an elderly woman succumbed to injuries at hospital on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Gurmel Kaur of Majra village.

The deceased has been identified as Gurmel Kaur of Majra village.

The woman was going to Katani Kalan on motorcycle with her grandson Harpreet Singh on Sunday. As they reached near Katani Kalan village, a speeding car hit the motorcycle from rear.

As a result Harpreet and Gurmel Kaur suffered severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital, where Gurmel Kaur succumbed to injuries on Monday.

Koomkalan police have booked car driver Bahadur Singh of Hoshiarpur village under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian penal Code (IPC). The accused is at large.
