Engineer shot dead in G Noida restaurant over petty argument

A 27-year-old engineer, employed with Jaypee Infratech, was shot by a customer in Yellow Chilli restaurant at Jagat Farms area in Greater Noida on Saturday night.

A 27-year-old engineer, employed with Jaypee Infratech, was shot by a customer in Yellow Chilli restaurant at Jagat Farms area in Greater Noida on Saturday night.

According to the police, Vivek Sharma, resident of P-4 sector in Greater Noida, was at the restaurant with his father and brother-in-law on Saturday.

He had got into an argument with another customer while paying the bill. The argument turned ugly and Sharma was shot at by the assailant.

“Sharma was standing at the payment counter and gave Rs 1,000 note against the bill of Rs 900. Restaurant staff asked him for change. Sharma offered Rs 50 as tip and requested the staff to return Rs 50. Another customer, identified as Ravi came up to them and started arguing with Sharma,” said Brijesh Kumar, superintendent of police, rural.

When other customers tried to pacify them, Ravi left the restaurant but returned with a gun and shot Sharma and fled the spot. Sharma’s family claims Ravi was drunk and was with a friend.
Sharma was rushed to nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. His body has been sent for postmortem.

Two police teams are raiding several areas to arrest the accused. They say the accused will soon be arrested.

Sharma hails from Agra but was with his family in Greater Noida preparing for his sister wedding due in May.
