The excise and taxation officers association has unanimously appointed Surinder Singh Ruby as its president in its general house meeting held here on Saturday.
The new executive body includes DS Garcha and Amit Sareen as general secretaries, Sukhdip Singh, Manohar Lal Sharma, Gurjit Singh and VP Jakhar as state vice-presidents. The new president also assured the state government that the members of the association will make every effort to achieve the revenue targets fixed by the government.

He also requested state government to remove the hardships being faced by the cadre like anomalies in the pay grades, bad working conditions and undue interference of low-level politicians in favor of tax evaders.
