Congress halqa in-charge Dhanjit Singh Virk has alleged in a police complaint that he received a call this afternoon on his mobile from a person, who threatened him not to campaign for the Congress and enter the city.

"The call was made on my personal number which was first attended by my assistant and then asked me to speak. When I spoke to the caller, he threatened me that I should not campaign for the party candidates, otherwise I will have to face serious consequences," he has alleged in his complaint.

Many Congress workers gathered before the city police station demanding action against the alleged caller.

Dhanjeet Virk is close to Partap Singh Bajwa, president of state Congress, and has been appointed halqa-in charge of Faridkot assembly constituency by him.

In Faridkot, Congress is only contesting 11 wards out of a total 27 while supporting other candidates in other wards.

There is also infighting within the district Congress groups owing allegiance to Bajwa or Captain Amarinder Singh.
