The police arrested sixth accused Gurmeet Singh, in Jagtar Singh and his family members’ suicide case on Wednesday.
Jagtar Singh committed suicide along with his wife Salwinder Kaur and daughters Harbhajan Kaur and Parveen Kaur on September 21.
Their bodies were found from Rajasthan feeder.
In his suicide note, Jagtar had named his neighbour Lal Singh, his family members, SAD leaders Harjit Singh Bhooluwala, Balbir Singh and Jarnail Singh.
Faridkot police arrested Lal Singh, Baljit Singh, Jaspal Kaur, Gurdev Kaur and Kala Mistri.
Administration had also announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the bereaved family.
Jagtar’s daughter Rajpal Kaur and son Rajender Singh today decided to not perform Bhog ceremony. The AAP leaders staged a token protest outside the police station in Faridkot.
AAP candidates Gurdit Singh Sekhon, Kultaar Singh and Baldev Singh from Faridkot, Kotkapura and Jaito, respectively, joined the protest.
However, family is divided over the issue as Jagtar’s elder daughter Mandip abstained from joining protest and asked her siblings to perform Bhog ceremony.
Some relatives of the family said that AAP leaders are using the incident for their political advantage.

AAP candidate from Faridkot Gurdit Singh Sekhon said that if the administration fails to arrest accused SAD leaders, they will launch a massive stir.
