Talking to this correspondent at 8 pm, Gurdeep said he was normal and had no health problem and the police had 'forcibly' taken him in an ambulance to the hospital.

He said though the police forcibly tried to end his hunger strike but he will again sit on hunger strike after release from the hospital.

However, a local official said Gurdeep was admitted to the hospital keeping in view of his health condition.

Earlier in the morning, Kuljit Singh Nagra, Congress MLA from Fatehgarh Sahib, senior SAD leader and SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjoli and People's Party of Punjab leader Jagmeet Singh Sahota met Gurdeep and expressed solidarity with him.
