Fatehgarh Sahib police bust gang of transformers thieves

Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang of transformer thieves with the arrest of five people from Haripur village and the seizure of 2.32 quintal of transformer copper coils from their possession.

Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang of transformer thieves with the arrest of five people from Haripur village and the seizure of 2.32 quintal of transformer copper coils from their possession.

Addressing a press conference, district police chief Gurmeet Singh Randhawa said during a routine inspection, a police team led by Badali Ala Singh station house officer Sarabjeet Singh arrested the accused from a T-junction at Haripur village.

The accused have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar, Seespal, Sohan Lal residents of Haryana, and Kamlesh Kumar and Hare Ram, residents of Patna and Gorakhpur. Randhawa said besides copper coils, a Maruti car (HR 05 D 4586), iron cutting equipment and other tools have also been seized.

The police have registered a case under Sections 379 (punishment for theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code and has started further investigation.
