Streamlining of official records, creating a better work environment for employees and providing public easy excess to the administrative services have played an important role in getting ISO 9000:2008 certificate for the Bathinda office.

"We had aimed to get the ISO certificate in 2011. We set our target and worked to achieve it and finally got the reward," Kamal Kishor Yadav, DC, Bathinda, said during a press conference at mini-secretariat on Monday.

"First of all, we streamlined the official records of all the related offices. We destroyed unwanted records, which were more than 20 year old, after retaining important files. We made the catalogue for the maintenance of records and now any file, no matter how old it is, can be accessed within five minutes. It will be very easy for the employees to reply to the queries under the Right to Information Act," said Yadav.

The DC added that, "Our next aim was to maintain a healthy work environment in offices. We designed colour theme, uniforms and made proper sitting arrangements for employees so that they can get a better place to work. These positive changes helped us get the ISO certificate."

The organisation concerned made several visits for audit purpose before issuing the ISO certificate. "We are going to further improve services at all offices by bringing more reforms," the DC added.

What is ISO
International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is world's largest developer of voluntary international standards. International standards outline state-of-the-art specifications for products, services and good practices, helping organisations become more efficient and effective.
