Jasmeet’s father, Jaswant Singh, 49, a financier, has been in coma since the attack on him by an unidentified person four months ago. Jasmeet, who was studying hotel management at De La Salle University in Manila, had been taking care of his father’s money-lending business.

Jasmeet had been in Manila since May 12, 2012, while his father had been working there as a financier for 15 years.

GOVT HELP SOUGHT TO BRING BACK BODY

A pall of gloom descended on the Daulatpura locality of Jalandhar after news of the murder was received.

Jasmeet’s mother Pardeep Kaur, 47, said that the family got a call around 10 pm on Monday about the murder of her son by five assailants when he was going to the market with a friend.

She urged the Indian government to help the family to bring back her comatose husband and the body of her son.

The family said Jasmeet’s murder and the attack on his father could be the fallout of money-lending disputes.
