First-time voters to get 30% rebate in Amritsar restaurants

With a view to encouraging youngsters to exercise their franchise in the coming Lok Sabha elections, the Amritsar district administration has offered 30% discount to the first-time voters at various restaurants across the city on the polling day.

With a view to encouraging youngsters to exercise their franchise in the coming Lok Sabha elections, the Amritsar district administration has offered 30% discount to the first-time voters at various restaurants across the city on the polling day.

Besides, the kin of such voters could get 30% discount on stay in the city hotels from May 1 to 31.

“All that the first-time voters have to do to avail of these discounts is to flash their voters’ identity card and the imprint of the indelible ink on their fingers in front of the owners of hotels and restaurants,” said additional deputy commissioner Pradeep Sabharwal. He added that a decision in this regard was taken during a meeting with the owners of hotels and restaurants and associations of hotels and restaurants in the city.

He said the initiative would go a long way in prodding the first timers to exercise their voting right during the Lok Sabha elections. “Immediately after exercise of their franchise, the first-time voters would be awarded letters of appreciation by the district administration, which would make them eligible for the discount for a day at the city eateries,” the ADC said.
