In one case, three people Satish Kumar, Charanjit Singh and Ravi Kumar have been booked under sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC at the Civil Lines police station for duping Balbir Singh, a resident of Balraj Nagar.

Balbir Singh has alleged that he had paid Rs 1.6 lakh to the accused as advance in a land deal in October last year, but later they refused to sell the land. “The accused gave him a cheque for Rs 1.6 lakh to pay back the amount they had taken in advance, but the cheque bounced,” he alleged.

In another case, Harjit Singh and Kewal Singh, residents of Barnala, have been booked under section 420 of IPC for allegedly cheating Lal Singh, a resident of Ajit Road here, for duping him of Rs 25 lakh in a land deal.

None of the accused in both the cases has been nabbed so far.
