The local bodies department filed the chargesheet after 10-month-long inquiry. It was found that the said officials had allegedly failed to cover the manhole in Basti Peerdad area, in which Sagar fell and died. The officials have been asked to file their replies to the department in three weeks.

Additional municipal commissioner PS Jaggi confirmed the development.

Sagar, the son of a labourer, Kanshi Ram, fell into the manhole when he was passing through the area with his father. Sagar was rescued out of the manhole and was taken to the civil hospital, but could not be saved. After this, the locals lodged a strong protest against the MC officials.
Though the department had started an inquiry immediately after the incident, but it moved at a slow pace.
