Five women among 11 held for rioting, criminal conspiracy

The Nakodar city police have arrested 11 people, including five women on charges of obstructing a public servant in discharge of public function, hiring of people to join unlawful assembly, obstruction in public way, criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, rioting and criminal conspiracy.

The Nakodar city police have arrested 11 people, including five women on charges of obstructing a public servant in discharge of public function, hiring of people to join unlawful assembly, obstruction in public way, criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, rioting and criminal conspiracy.

SHO Subhash Bath said that the alleged accused had been identified as Surinder Kaur Randhawaa, a resident of Mohalla Bhallian, Jaswinder Kaur of Malsian village, Vidya alias Veena of Sarakpur village, Baljit Kaurof Bhoe village in Amritsar, Binder and her husband Tarsem of Guru Nanak Pura, Sunny of Maheru, Lakhan of Phagwara, JasbirSingh of Sarakpur, Sanjiv Kumar of Phagwara, Amritpal of Maheru.

The case was registered on a statement from the city SHO. He said that the accused staged a dharna in front of police station on Monday evening, blocked the gate, disrupted traffic and interfered in functioning of police personnel.

He said a case under Section 148, 149 (rioting),150 (hiring of people to join unlawful assembly) 186 (obstructing a public servant in discharge of public function) 283 (obstruction in public way) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
