Former Giddarbaha Cong MLA alleges attempt to kidnap him

Former Congress MLA from Giddarbaha Raghbir Singh, on Thursday, filed a complaint with the Giddarbaha police demanding action against three persons, one of them reportedly the brother of a SAD leader from the area, alleging that they had tried to kidnap him from his shop when he refused to hand them over the register of the proceedings of the Dharm Sabha, of which he is the elected president.

Former Congress MLA from Giddarbaha Raghbir Singh, on Thursday, filed a complaint with the Giddarbaha police demanding action against three persons, one of them reportedly the brother of a SAD leader from the area, alleging that they had tried to kidnap him from his shop when he refused to hand them over the register of the proceedings of the Dharm Sabha, of which he is the elected president.

"I am president of the Dharm Sabha, Giddarbaha, which runs some educational institutions, a dharamshala, a community centre and a gaushala for the last about 25 years, but now some other people want to wrest the control of the dharmshala being run by us," claimed Raghbir Singh.

The former MLA has named Sunny Dhillon, brother of the SAD MLA; Lakhwinder Singh, president of the truck union Giddarbaha and one Sukhwinder Singh besides some unidentified people in the complaint.

Raghbir Singh alleged, "The brother of a senior SAD leader from Giddarbaha, accompanied by some other people on Wednesday evening, came to my shop and demanded the proceedings register, but I refused to hand over the register saying that it could be given only to a member of the Sabha. They were also carrying some weapons and tried to kidnap me. When, some people came to the spot, they fired a shot in the air and fled."
